- How to Make Sudanese Ful Medames
Sudan's National dish is Ful Medames - a vegetarian high-protein mashed fava bean dish. Course: Any Serves: 6 Cook Time: 3 hours Ingredients Instructions 1 pound dry fava beans Step 1 THE NIGHT BEFORE COOKING: In a large bowl, place the fava beans and fill completely with water. Seal the top of the bowl with cling wrap and place in the refrigerator to let the beans soak overnight (at least 6 hours). Tomatoes, diced Step 2 IN THE MORNING: Remove the bowl from the refrigerator and drain the water. Fill a pot of water and add the beans. Cook beans on medium heat until they are soft and can be crushed between your fingers easily. This can take up to 3 hours. Red onions, diced Step 3 Once soft, remove the beans from the water and reserve about 1 cup of the broth from the pot. Add beans to a large bowl along with some of the reserved broth and mash with this type of utensil . Add more reserved broth if needed. Feta cheese Step 4 Once the beans are completely mashed, add the seasonings. I would start with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of cumin and coriander powder. You can always add more depending on your preferred taste. Mix the seasonings into the beans. Arugula Step 5 Once the mashed beans are seasoned, scoop into serving bowls and top with tomatoes, onions, feta, washed arugula, and olive oil. Hard boiled eggs are also good with this dish. I recommend serving with pita bread. I used this recipe to make my own! Olive oil Salt Black pepper Cumin powder Coriander powder Optional: Pita bread Optional: hard boiled eggs. - Lofthouse Cookie Copycat Recipe Review - Iced Sugar Cookie Recipe
These copycat Lofthouse cookies were delicious, but not EXACTLY like the original. Read below to see my recommendations plus the original recipe! Watch me make it here! Recipe Review Recipe: https://preppykitchen.com/lofthouse-cookies/ Official review of recipe: 9/10 This recipe created some delicious cookies... but I needed to work a little magic with the cookie dough first! Tip 1: Anticipate that you will need more flour. I added extra flour to the mix so I could get it out of the mixing bowl plus MORE while trying to roll it to cut out the cookies. My dough practically dissolved all the flour I gave it, so just know... you'll probably need more. Tip 2: Add some extra flour when rolling so it's easier to grab the cookies without changing their shape. These cookies have a floury-feel to them when they come from the store too! Its okay to add a little more flour to make it easier to transport them to a cookie sheet. Tip 3: Use a circular motion when icing. You can see me doing this in the video above! It makes the icing look more uniform. Recommended Equipment Here is the equipment I recommend for this recipe: Stand mixer Cookie cutters Cooling rack If you make this recipe, I want to see!
